The holidays are quickly arriving, and we all know what that means… family pictures!! This time of the year can be so stressful, with all of the party planning, end of the year shenanigans, and of course, shopping (I mean, have you ever been out on Black Friday? Yikes!!). I’ve partnered with my sweet friend Shelbie at Seeking the Sea Photography to make take some stress out of the holidays for you…though we can’t do anything about your crazy in-laws coming into town, we can give you some direction on what to wear for your family photos! Our fall color style guide was so beloved that we decided to put together a holiday outfit inspiration guide for you so you don’t have to stress over finding the perfect coordinating outfits. We totally get it…you have to convince your hubby that he should want to take family pictures (been there, girl!) – ain’t nobody got time for outfit coordination, too!

Our bright and airy style makes our hearts pitter-patter, and our clients feel the same! It’s important to keep in mind that what you wear is important in achieving that look you desire in your photographs, whether that’s bright and airy, dark and moody or something in between. A great way to accomplish the bright and airy look in your holiday pictures is by wearing neutral, light and airy colors. If you want to add more color, that’s fantastic!! We say the best way to do that is to accessorize, accessorize, accessorize! A scarf, necklace, or other statement piece can coordinate with cute leggings or tights for your little girl, a bow tie for your handsome boy, and a tie or pocket square for dad!

The outfits we’ve laid out here include pieces from our favorite retail shops as well as some amazing boutiques that we just know you’ll love as much as we do!!

Pink doesn’t have to be for spring and summer pictures only. It’s a great color all year round! Other than being just totally delicious, soft pinks are a great way to add some color, and they photograph soooo well! Choosing the right shade will help you get the more fall-vibe that you want. Try finding shades of mauve, blush, and even burgundy to accessorize. Pair with creamy whites and shades of gray for the perfect outfit combination!

We love floral prints!! We say if you want to wear floral, choose a large floral print instead of something small and busy. For this outfit combination, we pulled the the creams, soft blush, and greens from mom’s jumpsuit to coordinate outfits for the rest of the family. Dreamy!

Light blue, khaki and white is a classic color combination. And shades don’t have to be the exact same to still look great together! We chose to use chambray and different shades of light blue. Don’t be afraid of texture to add some more dimension…like these quilted overalls for baby boy and corduroys for big boy! Bow ties and ties are a great way to coordinate the men in the family without going over the top.

One of our very favorite color combinations is white and gray! All the heart eyes for these, right?! You can pair lighter shades of gray with darker shades of gray and use white to break up the outfits. Neutral palettes are a great time to pattern mix by using lace and ruffles, sweaters and knits, and corduroy.

Here’s another great neutral color pallet with items that can be worn for different seasons! If it’s a little more chilly where you’re at, leggings, a scarf and boots can be added under the women’s sweater dress. For your little girl, tights and leather oxfords would pair great! A wool sweater can be paired with the men’s and boy outfit for some warmth.

Choosing neutral colors allows you to put together a great outfit combination, with little effort in trying to find things that match…because almost everything matches! This combination pairs warmer colors with fresh cream tones and whites. These outfits are also great all weather choice with a few more pieces for added warmth, like knee high socks, leggings, and cardigans.
